FLDAS-Global
FLDAS-Global simulations are using the Noah (version 3.6) land surface model within the Land Information System (LIS) framework at 10 km resolution. Noah is run from 1982 to present. Model domain latitudinal extent is 60°S to 90°N and longitudinal extent is -180° to +180°. The final runs are forced with CHIRPS precipitation and MERRA-2 atmospheric forcing. The spatial extent of CHIRPS precipitation inputs is 50°S-50°N (Funk et al. 2015). For regions north and south of CHIRPS domain FLDAS uses MERRA-2 precipitation inputs. Prior to the final runs, preliminary runs are performed with preliminary CHIRPS precipitation forcing product combined with GDAS atmospheric forcing. Click here for model specifications, and more information of FLDAS-Global runs can be found in this document. Comparisons with observation data sets SMAP-L3 soil moisture and IMERG precipitation are shown. Other LIS model simulations from GLDAS and NLDAS (Contiguous United States domain) are also shown for evaluation.
