Meeting Minutes

Dear N-LDASers,

AUG 13 N-LDAS PHONE CONFERENCE

1 - Late last week, Qingyun Duan of OHD has finished the final full-domain SAC-SWA control model run for our 3-year retro period.  He has posted the model output to both the NCEP LDAS server (SGI108 raidzone rdz1) and the NASA LDAS server "Land".  He send an email to all with the details of the path names to his model output on these servers. All model intercomparisons on the full domain for the JGR papers must use this SAC run.  In this latest SAC run, Yun reports he has solved the problem of very low EP and ET values that have plagued his former runs.

2 - Justin Sheffield, though finished with the final full-domain VIC 3-year retro control run some 2-3 weeks ago, had staged the output of this VIC control run only to a Princeton server.  As of today, he will proceed over the next 2-3 days to stage this VIC full-domain control run to the
NASA Land server, where Dag will pick it up to complete Dag's complete backup of 3-year retro LDAS forcing and 4 model output on the NCEP LDAS server (SGI108/rdz1).

3 - Thus, when Justin and Dag complete #2, all full domain LDAS forcing and 4 control model outputs for the 3-year retro period of 01 Oct 96 to 30 Sep 99 will be available from either NCEP LDAS server (SGI108) or NASA LDAS server (Land)

4 - Lifeng steered us to his Rutgers web site and walked us through 2-3 new figures he is proposing to include in his LDAS forcing validation paper.

5 - To assist in the LDAS precip forcing assessment in Lifeng's paper, Ken Mitchell will obtain the station list for the 114 stations of the
Oklahoma mesonet and confirm our understanding that the latter OU Mesonets obs were not part of the station observation set that was analyzed in the LDAS daily gage precip analyses of Wayne Higgins team.

6 - Lifeng agreed to evaluate the GOES hourly upward longwave radiation (from GOES hourly skin temps in the LDAS forcing files) against ARM-sites observed upward longwave radiation.
