Minutes for January 22nd LDAS meeting at NCEP
1) Next meeting: March 1st 2001 at NASA/GSFC after CEOP workshop
time and place TBD
2) Dan Tarpley (Dan.Tarpley@noaa.gov), GOES/GEWEX talked about
solar insolation and skin temperature products. The three
WWW sites below cover most of his talk.
The first is comparisons of the Eta radiation
with ground truth, the second is comparisons of Eta insolation
with GOES insolation and Eta Tsfc with GOES Tsfc, and the third
is comparisons of GOES radiation with ground truth.

3) John Janowiak (jjanowiak@ncep.noaa.gov) provided participants
with hand-outs of CMAP (CPC Merged Analysis of Precipitation)
and GPCP (Global Precipitation Climatology Project). For more
information visit:

4) Jin Huang presents methods and pilot year results for 50-year
retrospective N-LDAS forcing, with emphasis on precipitation
forcing algorithms. She uses the EMC NOAH model driver and
all the parameters from the real time runs.
5) Dag put routing model and forcing quality control program on
http://lnx69.ncep.noaa.gov
6) Brian
- RUC is now operationally ftp'ed to NASA/GSFC
- MOSAIC writes output in standard grib as defined
by group.
- presents precipitation blending mask for all models.
- progress on 1996 to present forcing
- notices that GOES radiation is valid 15 min after the hour.
7) Yun and Dag put spatial parameters into Sacramento model
8) Lifeng shows OK Mesonet data and useage for LDAS verification
Rutgers University requests grib output from models.
